DJ's Dance Classics Leave Borora Juniors with Headache
North Eastern Counties Schooboy/girl League
Under 16 Division One
Oldcastle United 6 - 0 Borora Juniors
Oldcastle United finished off their last home game of the season in style as they swept Borora Juniors aside with a resounding six nil win at Gilson Park. Despite a late kick off due to the match official receiving a text the previous evening from a league official saying the game was in Borora, he travelled up to Oldcastle with a later kick off meaning the game was played eventually, and it was the home side who scored first when Ciaran Healy played the perfect pass for Pearse Sheridan to run onto and finish into the far right corner of the net. The blues doubled their lead when a Fergal Gibney cross was met by the alert Conor Hetherton to fire into the bottom corner. Hetherton then grabbed his second when he pounced on Darren Connell's cross leaving the keeper with no chance to leave the score three nil at the interval. Three soon became four as Fergal Gibney delivered in another corner for Darragh Caffrey to jump ten feet and head home. Then enter DJ Monaghan who has been a great squad member for the team, and he stroked home the ball following another Gibney corner. The tunes kept playing out loud as the DJ brought the house down with his second of the match and Oldcastles sixth as he reacted quickest to Paul Wades volley which was initially saved by the keeper but Monaghan tapped home to the delight of his team mates as they joined him in doing the aeroplane celebration. DJ could of had a hat trick only for the heroics of the opposition goalkeeper but it was a geat day for the club and they signed off for the season at Gilson Park. Our last game of the season will be away to Park Celtic Summerhill who will be favorites but our lads will give it everything to bring home some silverware.
