Oldcastle United Beat Rathkenny Rovers in Division 2
Oldcastle continued their impressive recent form with a four nil win against Rathkenny Rovers in Gilson Park. It took OUFC just over a half an hour to break the deadlock when Thomas O Reilly finished off a move he had started to fire a left foot shot into the Rathkenny net. Oldcastle pressed for a second but Rathkenny made it very hard for the home side, restricting our chances but OUFC finally got a bit of fortune when we were awarded a soft penalty with ten minutes to go which changed the game and CJ Healy slotted home the resulting kick to double our lead. A minute later the game was over as a long ball sent towards the Rathkenny box was chased down by Alan McCann who outjumped the keeper to head the ball towards the net, but Jonathan Boylan followed it in and blasted the ball home into an empty net. Oldcastle added a fourth late on from the spot once more as Alan McCann was brought down in the box, and McCann cheekily dinked the ball past the keeper to give Oldcastle all three points.
